A "Purple lubber grasshopper" photo https://www.msu.edu/user/dru/Fieldnotes/2005/June-21/pages/Purple%20Lubb... almost matches this for colour, but was photographed in Central America and differs in other ways and the lubber family is not found in Europe. I hope someone can ID this and that it isn't a clever photoshop hoax! At least it wasn't taken on April 1st!
