Whilst digging I came across these 2 larvae buried in the ground at a depth of 3-4 inches. Both were very dosile and curved round into a circular shape. White/cream in colour although the tail end is darker grey (is this digested soil?).
Large jaws and brown head with six legs and long body. Quickly became active and begain walking along the ground. Appeared to attack each other when in near proximity (does this suggest insect eater?).

Helpful Guide

Thanks Alan, a most useful and informative guide to Stag Beetle / Chafer larvae. It's easy to see how there is confusion.
