Wintering Blackcaps

Generally, Blackcaps wintering in this country are from mainland Europe. Ringing recoveries show them to come from areas like southern Germany. I think that there is a little evidence building to suggest that some of our summer birds are staying on in the winter, but that will not explain the origin of most wintering Blackcaps. Yours is more likely to be from somewhere like Germany.
