Could the bird on the right in the third photo be his missus?

Very common on Crete, seen in most habitats across the island, at most elevations. It is not possible accurately to age the birds in the photo, as they are a bit distant, but you are right that they are a male and a female. Neither bird is a juvenile, as a bird born this year will have moulted into its first-winter plumage by now.
