Lichen (c)
Description:

Crust-like thallus, cream-grey colour. Volcano-like fruit structures (I think) with single dark (black) pore to each fruit structure. Segments of whole patch separated by sharply defined jigsaw-like lines rather than ragged, edge of torn paper lines. Found on apple tree trunk. Maybe Pertusaria but no idea about species.

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Species interactions

No interactions present.

Yes

I agree this is a Pertusaria. Unfortunately it is still immature and so it doesn't seem to be possible to take this to species. Either P. hymenea or P. pertusa. I suspect it is the latter.

Thank you for help with the identification and for the comment about difficulty identifying species of immature lichen.
