Struggling to photograph the tiny details of this Usnea. I need some better kit.
Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!
Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
No interactions present.
I have a computer microscope which is great for detail on lichen and fungi gill, not spores just very close up x400 it was about £45 on Amazon and it takes photo's too.
I'll have to look into that, because a microscope and the ability to take photos with it is high on my list. The price sounds very reasonable.
Also on my list is an SLR and a good macro lens, and some laser eye surgery.
But I'll settle for Dobson's lichen guide for Christmas. Sadly, the rest will have to wait.
Discovery VMS-004 Deluxe USB Microscope www.veho-uk.com I looked at other microscope's and they were too expensive.I have a Collins Guide to Ferns, mosses and lichens of Britain and Europe got it from Abe books,Amazon's good to Rodger Phillips book on Ferns, grasses and mosses is good too paid £25 for both via Amazon second hand good book's.Will put an observation on of a lichen tomorrow with microscope shot so you can see how good it is.
Hope this help's
Thanks Sheila - I'll keep an eye out.
