The case of common whelk mis-ID'd unaccountably as a dog whelk by 4 at http://www.ispot.org.uk/node/120786 is overturned,(2 still say dog whelk)
There is no link to the NBN Gateway or EOL for this species, I just noticed the same thing on the record referred to above (the one that was previously mis-IDd as a dog whelk but has now been corrected).
I just tried adding the name again and again no link appeared to NBN or EOL so there must be something strange about the name not matching. There is a longer term project to sort things like this out on ispot so it may get fixed in the summer.
This could well be a continuation of the problem I reported in http://www.ispot.org.uk/node/211255#comment-83898 ,(16aug'12)which affected numerous seashore species, common & otherwise, including common whelk.
