A very distinctive moth/butterfly. The wings are black with pale yellow horizontal bars & spots. The wings are quite tattered at the ends so difficult to judge thier shape. The insect was observed for 3/4 days in early Sept flying from plant to plant in bright sunshine but not feeding.

Looks like a Heliconid...

...of some sort. They are a tropical species not known for migrating vast distances, so this is likely an escaped one - are there any butterfly houses/zoos in the area?
