I'm not confident in saying which species this is from this photograph; the deer is face on and too far way. The colour is washed out so can not go by that. Anywhere else I would be confident in saying roe deer, or even if the animal was side on. However, this could be a sika or even a red deer in this area. Indeed the barrel shape of the body is more indicative of sika or red deer; roe are sleeker face on. However the long neck and large ears suggest roe deer. Unfortunately, any of these features could be distorted by the distance and angle of this photograph, sorry.
Can you tell me anything you noticed about the deer - colour; pattern of the pelt; how did it move - jump or run; or anything else?

Nothing to add sorry. I've not heard of Red in this area though.
