Small burrow in ground. Quite a lot of them about. (20p piece in photo for scale.) What could've made it and why?

Of the species mentioned, I think Minotaur Beetle is the only one which makes conspicuous burrows with heaps of sand outside (most other dung-beetles burrow more discretely) and is active in November. They are even more active at night, and I've seen them out and about at -6C.
