There is a simple key to Waxcaps by Aberystwyth Uni here: http://www.aber.ac.uk/waxcap/what/key-main.shtml. Getting very far with that key needs a view of the stem and whether or not it is viscid, so I agree that the best ID for now is Hygrocybe sp.

The Aber homepage has lots of info about Waxcaps http://www.aber.ac.uk/waxcap/index.shtml, and http://www.lakelandwildlife.co.uk/FungiWaxcap_SpeciesPage.aspx has Waxcap info centred on Cumbria.
