I have noted clusters like this on ivy at Mistley in Essex. Even this late in the year there are huge numbers still active on the flowers even on dull days. Obviuosly feeding up for their hibernation making good use of the current mild conditions. Many though have hidden away and in one area the slots in concrete fence posts where the panels slide in are lined with these and Harlequins with a few pines thrown in for good measure.
