Grassland Invader

Observed: 14th November 2011 By: BryanChesworth
Grassland Invader

Mostly white, but also grey and pale yellow mass invader of damp sheep-grazed rough grassland. Seems to be attached to grass leaves (not to the soil) and if disturbed leaves a slimy coating on the boot. Has anyone any idea at all of what it could be - this year's the first time I've seen it on the relevant fields. It's growing in the open (not close to trees) and seems to be very invasive - from a few small patches a couple of weeks ago, it's locally widespread now with perhaps 100's of patches. Photo taken by a friend around 11th November
