I read that there are plans to implement a data base of stock photos for use by those who were unable to take their own photos for whatever reason.
I believe this would be contrary to the aims of iSpot. Observations supported only by a stock photo are unreliable and could lead to false recording.
I myself have genuinely believed I saw an otter which turned out to be a mink , a water vole which was in fact a rat ; only photos taken at the time were able to avoid me submitting a false observation. If I had used a stock photo my error would not have been picked up.
Stick to photos taken at the time no matter how poor they may be. If not I'm afraid there will be an increase in unverifiable observations from people using stock images.
