Although distant, the owl was seen flying low over moorland and adjacent farmland though binoculars. It was similar in size to a black headed gull and had a flight that was very 'harrier' like. It appeared streaky mid-brown on upperparts and very pale on its underparts although the breast appeared also to be streaky mid-brown. It has a very round face like appearnce. Its wings had numerous black markings including black wingtips. It flew at 3.45pm before it was dark.
