Description:

Images show what I think is a fungus. It is much blacker than the photos show. It is almost like very fine black grass. The photo seems to indicate a ‘nodule’ on the ends, but this is actually dew. It has only appeared on the lawn underneath a Niger seed feeder for the birds, not noticed elsewhere in the garden. I’ve moved the feeder a couple of times & this growth appears in the new position as well.
