A wasp species. Tried to identify it, but the facial markings don't seem to match any species perfectly

Species interactions

No interactions present.

Species with which Tree Wasp (Dolichovespula (Pseudovespula) sylvestris) interacts

The two small dots on the metanotum made me think more of saxonica than sylvestris as do some aspects of the facial markings but I am not sure on this one.

Thats a very plausible suggestion Lee but I think (and could be wrong) the face is not right for saxonica - This link was helpful

Best wishes

I think the face can be a bit variable but I am very doubtful about my suggestion.

On the website you

On the website you recommended it states that sylvestris has no yellow spots on the metanotum, but my wasp has two small dots (look at the larger picture). Is sylvestris still likely?
