Brown puffball

I does look like a Brown but, did it have any spines left on the top of the fruit body? If so it could be a Pestle puffball (Handkea excipuliformis) this is about the correct size to, about 5-10cm.

no spines observed

Brown puffball is listed as common in grassland and pastureland, spiny is listed as uncommon in deciduous woods and heaths. As this was pastureland, I still favour brown.
