Obviously, purple flower is wrong tag. I'm surprised the comments I made on location etc when entering the data are not displayed.

It's not like wild carrot

Confused

What i can see is an un-ripe wild carrot seed head that is just closing up for ripening and a few flowers that are in the background and a little out of focus. The purple center spots are not visible.

OK - I've learnt something then, as neither of my flower guides show it looking like this and the vast majority of photos on-line don't either. Interesting.

The seeds

I did put on images that show the stages of flowering.

On the second image you can see a head that has just finished closing for ripening. An expert might be able to explain why they do this. The third image shows a seed head that is at about the same stage as yours in the top right.

Thanks again

A more general lesson here about learning that at different 'ages' plants may not look like the field guides. Something I take for granted with my 'specialist subject' of birds.

Squeeze

I came across a big enough clump of Wild Carrot to be able to squeeze it all into one observation.
