This fungus was found growing out of a twig at the bottom of my compost heap. The scale is in mm. Several pieces were found, and had also been seen on an earlier occasion.
Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!
Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
No interactions present.
A very strange looking thing isn't it. I can't find anything with multiple caps on a single stem in my books. Hopefully an expert will drop by and comment in due course...
Never seen anything like it. There is a Collybia racemosa which has a similar stipe with "projections" but nothing as developed as this.
