Fox Kill

A chicken skeleton found at the base of a tree in woodland. Main body of bird has been eaten but the feet and wings remain.

    Confidence: It's likely to be this, but I can't be certain.

Could be

hard to say as may have been a fox at first but other mammals and birds could have finished it off.It is worth also looking for prints near the carcass and dropping to help verify the id.

check for smell...

Its difficult to see in the picture but check the smell in the pace you found this, that characteristic musty smell is a tell tale sign of fox also look for poo. Foxes can use carcasses as territoy markers.

As others above have said this is an old carcass and it is impossible to say what has killed this chicken - the scaly legs and white neck feathers indicate this is a chicken. It could have been a fox, equally it could have been a stoat, weasel or rat. It could even have been a sparrowhawk if this were a small bantam. Even if there were any signs left around the carcass they could be from an opportunistic animal which found a half eaten body.
