Bats

This is an excellent, and lucky, photograph; catching the bat out early enough for there to be enough light to see details. The post calcarial lobe is a small flap of skin between the calcar (looks like a long toe coming out from the leg towards the tail) and the wing edge.

You are right not to assume Mull has no sopranos it is only the last ten years they have been found over the rest of the country, the absence could just be due to under-recording?
