Hi I spotted my first Goldfinch ever last spring. It was so exciting, though I have been told that they are common garden birds, I certainly had never seen one before. I saw two engaged in a mating flight/courtship over the track at Putney Bridge station in London. I had to seach the RSPB site to be sure. Well done for having your camera to hand.
Thanks - they are very beautiful birds indeed. We used to have dozens visiting the garden until a few years ago when they did some work at the back of the house which backs onto a park, and the goldfinches disappeared, along with the long-tailed tits (another frequent visitor). It was so nice to see a couple of goldfinches back again - though they haven't been back since and the food is being scoffed by the pigeons!
