Description:

Some kind of fungus growing on a fungal Gall i think. It is on Silver Birch. There is Polypore on a near by tree.

don't think the gall is caused by a fungus but not sure was does cause it

Crown Gall

I thought it might have been a Crown Gall that is on a tree that is weakened and unable to support it any more due to the Birch tree being out grown by Sweet Chestnut.
