I always thought the pollen was orange/yellow so if this isn't pollen what is it.

It is pollen, it comes in all colours.

Pollen colours

You bee looks to be collecting pollen from a Scabious or Cephalaria flower. Scabious certainly has pinky/puple pollen.

The plant that it is on is related to Scabious and I have a very large amount of different types of this plant for the bees.Thanks for explaining why the pollen was this colour another interesting fact.
