False truffle (Elaphomyces) for checking

Following my submission a couple of weeks ago I am still not sure about the identification between Elaphomyces granulus and mericatus so hopefully these additional photos will help. Again there were many fruiting bodies of Cordyceps ophioglossoides and digging down a few centimetres the false truffle was found. I would welcome help with the correct ID.


Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
