Fungi and Lichens expert

Difficult to know what was going on with this fungus, was it fully developed or at an early stage, was it deformed or damaged or was this naturally what it looks like.

Same problem

I found something very much the same but on conifer and it also looked as if it had stopped developing.I have trawled through my books to no avail.I will put it on later so you can compare.The only thing I could get close to was maybe a Armellaria as they do say there are alternative forms.

just a thought.

Armellaria is the first thing

Armellaria is the first thing that sprang to mind but it looks to have brownish gills wheras Armellaria has whitish gills at least at first but they do get darker...
