Fungal growth black

Flat black circular fungus.
Diameter 4 to 5 cm.
Thickness 1cm
About 8 overlapping circles in a row on a dead branch lying on the ground. Beneath a silver birch tree.


Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

can't really see what it is

can't really see what it is as the photo is fuzzy. clearly the camera has focussed in the wrong place. always best to try several shots hoping that the camera will focus in the right place for one of them. also check on the screen to see if it is in focus
