Lichen Fungal portion?

Pale Green, funnel shaped
Height .5 to 1 cm
Growing on foliose lichen on coniferous logs and stumps.
Great quantity spread over a large area, all on the lichen.
Is this the fungal portion of the lichen?

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

    Likely ID
    Cladonia sp
Confidence: I'm as sure as I can be.
  • Cladonia spp
Confidence: It's likely to be this, but I can't be certain.

Fungal portion?

All of the lichen that you see is fungus. The algal cells are held inside.

Puzzled that as Fenwickfield has provided the identification, mhh75 has then repeated it as his own. This is discourteous and against iSpot ettiquette, see discussion in the forums and .

In any case, Fenwickfield has it right as she put "sp". As only one Cladonia species is visible in the photograph, this is right. 'spp' means species plural.

The species itself is not readily named as it is too out of focus. Sorry.
