Fomitopsis pinicola Red-belted bracket (?)
Description:

Looks rather like hoof fungus (Fomes fomentarius) but has a red band round edge. The Fomitopsis pinicola is supposed to mainly grow on conifers but can sometimes also grow on birch.

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
