Can anyone say if this is a Samos grayling Hiparchia mersina or the very similar Southern grayling Hipparchia aristaeus senthes which is also found on the island? Photographed on a beach on the east coast.
No interactions present.
I saw this species myself in late April. The minimal white scaling on the hindwing looks right for mersina. Senthes has much more white usually.
Many thanks... It was new to me, so I wanted to be sure!
