I'm not sure how to distinguish various yellow Russulas. Was this one growing in a damp place?
Any birch trees around?

It was in birch woodland on the edge of a peat bog (so wet). My ID is a guess! Could well be wrong!

... with birch where wet sounds about right for R. claroflava so I'm agreeing with your ID not that I'm anything like an expert on fungi. Hopefully someone who is will comment...
