Stay well away from these birds, they have a disgusting defence mechanism. If frightened they eject a foul smelling liquid. I once got covered whilst monitoring their breeding success in Shetland; I had to throw the shirt away.
Also like many 'tube-nose' species of seabird (albatross, shearwater, storm-petrel) they can drink seawater by removing the salt.
