Strang shapes on common fungi

I spotted this on a Birch Polypore in a wood near where i live.
It has a bit on the top that looks like a radar globe. you can have a look on www.ispot.org.uk/node/222728? Why would this happen? Is it a gall of some kind on a fungus?

Strange things

I have never heard of it but it could be that fungi get Galls. We could try googling Fungi Gall and see what happens.
