Description:

Tree, green broad flat leaves, simple, not lobed, roundish shape, alternate leaf arrangement, leaf is toothed, abrupt point, leaves feel coarse / 'hairy' to touch. Green buds.

Thankyou for your suggestion (hfraser).
I originally ruled out alder as I thought alder don't have abrupt tip at end and often have an indented end. These leaves definitely have an abrupt point. I admit though they don't look quite as toothed / serated as Hazel.
