(Elm sawfly) Identified now as Cimbex Luteus.

Observed: 29th May 2012 By: mt4296
DSCF9676 Bug
Description:

I saw this large yellow caterpillar in a willow tree in my garden. The only thing that matches it is an Elm Sawfly but I am puzzled because all the references I have found say it is North American. Turned into a Crysalis before I could Photograph it. Are they common in this country?
fly has emerged from crysalis May 29th.
