Fungus was a flattened sphere, slightly irregular in shape 5 - 6 cm diameter, 4.5 cm high; scale 10p coin ~2.5 cm diameter. Fungus had a course textured light brown surface covered with darker brown scales.
Boston Park area of Hatfield Moor, part of the Humberhead Peatlands NNR in South Yorkshire. Fungus located on ground in the verge of a sandy track [ground layer: earth/low grass/leaf litter] in wooded area of the reserve, mostly silver birch.
