Mystery slug

Observed: 4th April 2010 By: melissa36melissa36’s reputation in Invertebrates
slug
Description:

I found this chomping on spilled bird food. It is brown with darker patches in a pattern down it's back. Could it be a Leopard slug or is it some other species? I have seen a few of these in my garden and they seem a bit unusual.

Leopard slugs

Thanks for your reply! Interestingly I spotted slime trails glinting like silver in the Sun, all the way up a sycamore tree at the bottom of the garden. I wondered could that be the result of Leopard slug mating. I have no idea. But whatever made those trails that must seem like climbing Mt Everest. Very impressive!
