Very long beak, surrounded by feathers.
Please can somebody identify the bird this belonged to?

Without a measurement, it's difficult to be sure but it could be a heron - they've had a very hard time in this cold winter.
You can get an idea of how small this skull is by looking at the size of the hairs on the leaves to the left. So too small for a heron I think. Without the lower mandible this is a very tricky task indeed, but perhaps a water rail?
