This female Southern Hawker I saw skirting the edges of a local pond in Hatchell Wood (very close to houses in an area of suburbs) in Doncaster along with a male that zipped around the border of the pond and was much harder to photograph! The female stopped every so often along the shore and dug her abdomem into the moss, which I thought was unusual because don't dragonflies lay eggs under water? They didn't mind us coming fairly close and the male even seemed to 'investigate' which I've read is one of their traits as a species.
