Willow bracket tends to be blackish. Could it be Dryad's Saddle or even peeling oysterling? I can't zoom your photo, did you get a shot of the underside?

I didn't realise that there is a 'willow bracket', I just meant a bracket on a willow! I'm afraid I haven't got a picture of the underside. Def not Dryad's Saddle.
There are so many weird and wonderful brackets with weird and wonderful names, some so similar it takes chemicals to distinguish them - I'm having trouble with some IDs myself! Willow Bracket (Phellinus igniarius) is hard and woody whereas yours looks fleshy. I know how frustrating it is not to get an ID. It is worth trying to photograph different views but even then you can be unlucky!
Fungi are pretty much new to me this year - I've avoided 'lower' plants in the past! I'm learning (gradually) what I need to look for!
