Tiny but beautiful bugs. Only about 4mm long. Usually found on Gorse as the name suggests, although occasionally also on Broom.

Really beautiful images, I strongly recommend you click through to see them at their original size.

They are fantastic photos, hard to believe such small insects could be so delicately beautiful.
I will have to look out for them if they are to be found in Ireland.
Wish I could achieve this quality - I'm green with envy!
Really good photos of a pretty little beast
Many thanks for the kind comments everyone.
I have to admit, I am cherry-picking my nicest shots of unidentified or interesting subjects till the insect season starts again!
For those interested in the photographic side of things, almost all of my shots are taken using the wonderful Raynox dcr-250 close-up filter. I use it on a Canon Powershot S5 with a Lensmate adapter, but it can be used on many other cameras. It doesn't quite have the quality of an SLR and macro lens but I find it so much easier to use.
