According to Hayward & Ryland (Marine Fauna of North-west Europe, Oxford, 2000) this species can be confused with juvenile variegated scallop. However the latter has more than 35 ridges, whereas these specimens fall into the range of variegated scallop, having 25 - 35 ridges.

Bob "..can be confused with juvenile variegated scallop." is not what you meant. My 2011 handbook omits the correct reference altogether. Can you clarify please?
