mystery invert

Are you certain it has "a large number of legs" rather than the usual options of 6, 8 or 10?

Number of "legs"

About 20 of the "legs" are visible in the photograph, projecting out at the sides all round. There are more all over the underside.
It had to be pulled away from the fabric to which it had become attached, so the "legs" probably have a small hook at the end.

mystery

Cothill has suggested it might be a plant seed. Did it try to run away when you removed it from your clothing?
