This is the second recent post of a black Staph as a DCH, when it clearly is not. There are many species in this huge family, and many are quite big and/or black, but DCH is a very distinct shape - noticeably heavily built in comparison with this beast, with a wider abdomen and much heavier head.

Cheers guys you are probably right, I am using a guide to insects rather than a specialist beetles guide, dch was the closest match in the book but I agree the body shape is not the same.
