Googled your reply and was amazed to discover this is a South African species!
Apparently it has been accidentaly imported to various European countries via the trade in geraniums.
Even reached Britain for a year in the80's!

They seem to be quite well

They seem to be quite well established around the Med - there were larvae in every geranium I looked at in Perugia last September, and another good population in the Picos in Spain a few years ago
