Small, papery, light brown/beige oblate spheroid about 30mm x 25mm found in disused garage, no internals. Possibly Vespula sp. nest abandoned before completion.
No interactions present.
A 'queen nest' where the queen was probably killed or the nest abandoned before it really started. The beige colour (constructed from damp wood) suggest either Vespula vulgaris or Vespa crabro, but the small size suggests V. vulgaris. Other species of wasp tend to construct greyish nests (constructed from dry dead wood). You sometimes see nests with orange/green/blue coloured streaks in them. These are partly constructed from colour-stained wood such as garden fences or sheds.
