Description:

A small greeny brown beetle about 8-9mm long I found in a patch of water in centre of field ,at least 60-65meters from any trees.

Helophorus

Not one that can be identified from a photo with any confidence. It is one of the larger Helophorus water beetles but a full ID would require a specimen and probably dissection to confirm the species.
