Burnet Moth

I also think it's a six-spot. They are quote photogenic, compared to some others: though they tend to lead you round in circles as you try to get a good angle!

This is the six-spot burnet Zygaena filipendulae. Apart from the wing markings the five spot tends to be about slightly earlier in the season. Did you see any empty cocoons on the grasses nearby? The larvae of this day-flying species spin cocoons high up on grass stems which are quite easy to spot.
