Lichen on twigs

Observed: 3rd September 2011 By: ec2957

Blue-grey lichen attached to twig, retrieved from the ground in mixed woodland. It is smaller than the size of a table-tennis ball but occurred on other pieces of broken branches and twigs in the vicinity. The organism was raised from the host like a tiny shrub and could be removed without being destroyed. (Apologies for the poor quality of the photograph).

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Thank you for this identification. There seem to be so many fascinating and beautiful varieties of lichen, and they're difficult to identify using only the camera on a mobile phone but I can see from the Encyclopedia of Life link that this must be 'my' lichen. Thanks again.
